I scream for ice cream!

Another cupcake to add to the list of things to try - an ice cream cupcake from Cold Stone Creamery...yum! I have a feeling Manny will be running to the nearest one to get his hands on one of those double chocolate devotions!!!

Attack of the giant cupcake

Big Brother housemates spent yesterday competing with each other in a bake-off.

The two teams, Heaven and Hell, were given four hours to construct scale models of the Millennium Dome and St Paul's Cathedral using only eggs, flour, milk and sugar.

They were also given cake decorations, icing and sweets to accessorise their creations.

As Head of the House, Rachel was banned from taking part in the task, but was required to dress as a giant cupcake to oversee the task and judge the winner.

Supposedly she is quite a grumpy cupcake and can be watched on Channel4 at 9pm tonight!

Bea-utiful cupcakes

I walked past Bea's of Bloomsbury and couldn't resist getting cupcakes - Manny had chocolate with ganache frosting (the frosting was absolutely lovely, I tried a little bit!) and I had a vanilla caramel one which was quite nice but I'm not so fond of the frosting still. I've read that Bea's use a different, healthier style of frosting and I'm not sure I like it. Its nice but nothing that makes you go YUM! I have to say I prefer the good old sugar laden variety - its not like you eat them all the time ;)

While I was there I just couldn't resist having one of their individual lemon meringue cakes and oh.my.god it was one of the scrummiest things I've tasted I have to say!! I was hoping that Manny wouldn't like it so I could snuffle it all myself but he loved it too! It may look a bit squished in the pics - when I took it out to take pics it fell apart - still tasted gorge though :)

Guilt free cupcake fun!

My chum Nails bought me this lovely little cupcake lip gloss for my birthday - isn't it fab!! And it tastes yummy too and best of all no calories included :)

You can buy them online at Dolly Dagger or google cupcake lip gloss :)

North West London cupcake tour...

Planning the cupcakes tours is half the fun - I get to drool over pictures of cupcakes and plan routes (this is Mannys favourite part as he can spend ages perusing maps!). So having successfully completed the cupcake tour of SW London, we are busy planning the NW London equivalent, hopefully for next month. So far we have 3 places to visit including the rather fab looking Primrose Bakery in Primrose Hill. I've already had their cupcakes from Selfridges and they're lovely, but nothing better than getting them straight from the source!! Don't they look GORGEOUS!!!!

I think this is cupcake heaven...

Two of my favourite things combined - Tiffany AND Cupcakes!!! OH MY! If only they'd had these when I went to New York last Summer - Manny took me to Tiffany and offered to buy me anything I wanted and I just couldn't decide so ended up not getting anything (then again I was just totally chuffed to actually be in Tiffany's in New York!!!)

Manny has promised to buy me something from this collection if we make it back to NY this year, which I was already working but now this is just more of an incentive!

A BIG "thank you" to all things cupcake for pointing this out and making me wuhu out loud :)

Yukky cupcakes

I was off work on Wednesday and decided to toddle down to Kensington for a browse around the shops including Wholefoods which I ADORE!! After a quick coffee I thought I'd check the patisserie section and was chuffed to see they'd some cupcakes, or "fancy cupcakes" as they decided to call them (I suppose "disgusting and tasting of oil" wouldn't be a strong selling point!!). So I happily chose 2 - one greeny/blue one and a pink pig for Manny and went for a stomp round Hyde Park/Marylebone High Street to wear off a tonne of calories in anticipation of my, wrongly assumed, scrummy treat later! I was heartbroken when I dropped them in Primark (a.k.a hell on Oxford St) as I paid for my lovely pink spotty vest, but thought they'd still taste nice if look a bit scruffy! By the time I got them home they'd melted into a mass of yuk and it looked like a cupcake massacre inside the box - nevermind, I thought, a smoooooshed cupcake is still a cupcake - how WRONG I was!

After taking the above pics, I decided to just try some of the "frosting" as it didn't look quite right - and oh.my.god thank goodness I didn't take a big mouthful as it was UTTERLY gross! It tasted like how I'd imagine unflavoured shaving foam would taste, i.e. AWFUL. I tried a bit of the cake bit and it was just yuk too - no taste, hard and just unpleasantly textured. It was so disgusting I had to throw it in the bin - something I've thankfully never had to do with another cupcake! Only then did I look at the box (my greed got the better off me before I ate it!) and realise that the 2nd ingredient listed is Canola Oil..eugh, eugh, eugh.
And what makes it even worse - my favourite cupcake shop was just round the corner and I could've had Buttercup cupcakes instead :(
Unless you WANT to eat something that tastes like drinking oil then do NOT buy Wholefoods Markets cupcakes! You've been warned!

My cupcake purse

Talking of Lazy Oaf - Manny bought me this lovely cupcake purse from there over a year ago - isn't it lovely :)
Its by Cram Cream and I have a big shopping bag to match - will have to take a pic and post it.

Wear your cupcake on your lapel

or anywhere else you fancy sticking them with these lovely brooches from Lazy Oaf - only £8.50 each :)

Cupcake-tastic pillow

Not the comfiest thing to lie on, but utterly gorgeous and matches my lovely pink bedding! Its from Additions catalogue in the UK but I dont think you can get them anymore. They also do a range of bedding with cupcakes on (see pic above) but unfortunately only in single bed size - maybe I should get single beds for me and Manny so I could have some lovely cupcake bedding!

Cupcake-tastic weekend - continued

Sunday I went for another long walk in the park again - its the best place round here for walking and Sundays in New Cross is very busy due to the abundance of hand-clapping churches we have so its always a good idea to avoid the area. After a good stomp around the park, where I FINALLY saw the deer up close!, I went a different route so as to completely avoid the tempation of Daisy Bakes, however I popped into the antique market for a quick look around and unknowingly walked straight into temptation...a cupcake stall!! I just couldn't resist as I realised it was Peggy's Cupcakes stall which I'd previously bought from when it was in the covered market area a few weeks ago! These really are delicious cupcakes - and so pretty and cute! I got a pink one for me and a blue one for Manny and after walking home tucked into mine with a lovely hot cup of tea! I adore this keep fit malarkey :)
