MyChelle's Baketique

It seems I've mentioned Cakespy lots recently but I can't help it - she just keeps tweeting fabulous news that I have to share.

Today I was sitting on the bus catching up on recent tweets when I spotted this:
in London, MyChelle's Baketique has a cupcake bar with frosting shots. Wonderful London!

Along with this message was a link to their website, so I just had to click and read more about it - alas the website is infact just a front page with some basic details about what they offer, all in all not very inspiring.

Then when I got to work I got my daily Daily Candy email and lo and behold it was about MyChelle's Baketique;

We’ve found a better way to rack up green credentials.

Energy-efficient MyChelle’s Baketique — the adorable cupcake shop inside new ecofriendly hotel...

uses farm-fresh ingredients and recyclable packaging. New Yorker Michelle Husserl bakes delicious cakes and cupcakes in gourmet flavours like margarita, lemon meringue, carrot, fig, and peanut butter and jelly with an oozing centre. A cupcake bar serves icing shots — perfect for a quick, intense sugar high.

Hmm sounds more and more interesting, so I checked out the Hotel Rafayel blog;

Founded by Michelle Husserl, a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Institute, Mychelle’s Baketique offers a full range of pastries and sweets for any occasion. Located in the lobby of Hotel Rafayel, the Baketique will be an irresistible diversion for anyone who passes its appetising window display.

Imagine tables stacked high with beautifully designed cupcakes decorated in the brightest Bollywood colours. Then imagine a row of delicious ice cream cones....wait, that won’t work. They’d melt. But, no. These are no ordinary ice cream cones. These are Mychelle’s utterly divine ice cream cone cupcakes. They have to be seen (and tasted) to be believed

So - margarita cupcakes, ice cream cone cupcakes, frosting shots, cupcakes - I'm sold!! I must go there soon! I was thinking about dragging Manny there on Monday as we have the day off but it depends on how keen he is about going to Battersea - although there is a brewery there so he may be up for it! I also read in BMI Voyager magazine that the cupcake shots are only 90p! Bargain, for that price you can have a couple!

Thanks to Hotel Rafayel and MyChelle's Baketique for use of the pics.

GIANT Christmas Pudding Cupcake

I spotted this in Daily Candy today and just had to share! From Sweet Things, a giant Christmas pudding cupcake, decorated to look like a Christmas pudding it is in fact a giant chocolate cupcake, with chocolate filling and butter icing. It costs £45 and will feed 15-20 people. This would make a great alternative to Christmas pudding for chocolate lovers!

Sweet Things range includes three other Christmas cupcakes. The chocolate orange cupcake has a chocolate base with orange peel, topped with a Belgian chocolate ganache and the gingerbread cupcake is a vanilla sponge with ginger spices topped with cream cheese icing. Finally the mince pie cupcake has a vanilla sponge with sweet mincemeat, topped with vanilla butter cream and cinnamon sprinkles.

Further info about their Christmas range is available here and you can check out Sweet Things website here, where you can get lots of info about delivery and their other products - all of which look yummy!

Thanks to Sweet Things for use of their photograph.

Love Bakery - a new cupcakery in London

Today's Daily Candy alerted me to a new cupcake store in London...wu hu

Being in love feels like walking into a world of candy-coloured cupcakes.
No, really it does.
Take a trip to Love Bakery — Chelsea’s newest cupcake shop — and see for yourself. This adorable little store is owned by fashion PR-turned-mother Samantha Parkes, whose home-baked cakes regularly resulted in a mob scene at her children’s school fairs.
She now offers a selection of red velvet, chocolate, vanilla, lemon or rose-flavoured cupcakes in her very own hot pink and green shop, where each treat gets a finishing touch like a chocolate-dipped strawberry, icing rose, butterfly or sprinkles.
Everything is made by Parkes and a small team of helpers on site in domestic ovens and using the same ingredients you’d find in your own kitchen.
Just one will leave you wanting amour.
Love Bakery, 319 Kings Road, SW3 5EP (020 7352 3191)

I would've gone to check it out tonight after work but we popped along to the chocolate fest instead (lots of choc, no cupcakes). I'd go tomorrow but of course its cupcake day at Outsider Tart so I shall have to go next week instead! I shall blog about it asap!

Cake that...

From today's Daily Candy (London) (I stole the title from there too as I like it..sorry DC)

Mandatory hand-holding, pricey champagne, cringe-worthy you-complete-me’s and heart-shaped, well, everything.
Not your idea of romance?
If it’s the sweet stuff you’re after, look no further than home-baked cupcakes from new London-based bakers Lily Vanilli. Chocolate, vanilla, red velvet or cherry sponges come laden with vanilla, mango, coconut or orange buttercream frosting and topped with fresh fruit or nuts. Brownies and custom cakes are available to order, too.
To indulge in something decadent without a heavy commitment, there’s a flourless almond poppy seed cupcake on offer.
At least something will rise to the occasion.

The plan for Sunday is to go along and try some of Lily's fab looking cupcakes so hopefully I shall have some pictures/an update on them soon :)

Teeny Weeny Tiny Cupcakes

How scrumptious do these look and sooooo teeny!!!!*

I went back to work today and as well as catching up with work (of course!) I caught up with my NY Daily Candy mail outs - including this one

Listen, cupcake: We need to talk.
We’ve been together for a long time and have been through so much (celebrations, rainy days, sugar pangs, emotional tumult). Whether alone or with a dozen, it has always been a blast.
But it’s already 2009, and I’m young! There are so many dessert trends to fall in love with; I don’t want to be tied down.
Oh, no, please don’t look at me in your cute, miniature stuffed cupcake kind of way. Yes, I know you’ve just been delivered fresh from Baked by Melissa, who makes silver dollar-size treats in flavors like PB&J, s’mores, tie-dye, and cookie dough. But it really is time to move on.
Well, okay, maybe one last little taste.
For old times' sake.

They really do look fab, and ever so cute - however even I don't think I could manage 100 - their minimum order!!! Seriously the tie dye ones look great though!

*unfortunately the pic is teeny too...sorry...a full size version is available on the website!
