More Christmas gifts :)

I met up with my friends Dennis and Helen earlier in the week to finally exchange Christmas gifts - and aren't they fab! As well as an array of lovely Hello Kitty stuff, I got the GIANT Big Top silicone cupcake mould from Dennis, and the cupcake a day calender :) He also got me a bag from Original Cupcakes in Vancouver, which he'd visited since I last saw him in October - check out their website here.

The gorgeous door-mat is from Helen - as you can see I'm not the only one that fell in love with it - Demon rushed from sleeping the sofa as soon as I put it on the kitchen floor. You can see more pics of Demon here, if you so wish.

Finally, my lovely friend from Chicago, Renee, sent me a package filled with awesome stuff, including Hellbent for Cooking and more Hello Kitty stuff, and she also made me some super-cute little Christmas decorations, one of which you can see in the picture of the cupcake calendar. If you look closely you'll see the cork is from a bottle of wine from Cupcake Vineyards! I've wanted to try the wine for some time,but can never find it here. I've emailed Renee for some feedback on it!

I am lucky to have such awesome friends :)

HUGE cupcake on big brother

Big Brother's latest Alice in Wonderland task includes Hira (aka Alice) having to eat a giant cupcake to find a key...you can see a video here.

She is having to eat through the cupcake without using her hands, which must stay behind her back at all times. 

Yummy - I'd prefer it to be vanilla though!

Currently she's sitting asking the cupcake "why are you so big" while looking like she's going to throw up!

The worlds largest cupcake

One foot tall, two feet wide, taking fifteen hours of cooking, seventy pounds of cake batter, sixty pounds of icing and fifteen pounds of fudge filling - amounting to  130, 000 calories - gives you the worlds largest cupcake as verified by the Guinness Book of World Records in the Minneapolis Mall of America at the weekend.

The cake was made by cakes.com and you can see a video of it on You Tube.

Cakes.com gave away 4,000 free cupcakes for the event, and arranged for the world record-breaking cupcake to be sent to a local pig farm where the residents are used to disposing of edible garbage!

I have a feeling by the worlds largest cupcake they mean one solid cupcake that was baked as a whole item, rather than the larger big cupcakes which are formed of many cakes (like the one in Covent Garden last week, and this whopper from Merengue Bakers (above) which costs $400 and feeds 210 people..wow!)
