A lovely cupcake gift

Manny bought me this ever so cute cupcake bowl earlier this week, perfect for my morning bowl of cheerios (yummy)
You can buy them at Amazon, and they have matching plates and tumblers too :)

I heart Lakeland

Time for another trip to Lakeland I think - how cute are these vintage cupcake tins!!? And a complete bargain under £15 for 4!!

These will look fab in my kitchen :)

Hurrah for Mr Sprinkles

I mentioned Mr Sprinkles in the post below and had to share how fab he looks with you :) I shall be buying some in the States for sure!

More Sprinkles lawsuits

Beverly Hills-based Sprinkles pioneer of the cupcake-only shop and purveyor of miniature morsels beloved by celebrities is turning up the heat on competitors allegedly treading on its trademarked name and dot motif.

Three-year-old Sprinkles most recently set its sugary sights on Sprinkled Pink Cupcake Couture in Montecito. Last week, just one day after Wendy Jones opened her shop, she received a letter from Sprinkles demanding that she change the name of her bakery, which she registered when she got her business license in 2003."They're going too far," said Jones, who hasn't decided how to respond to the letter. "I'm sure they're protecting themselves, but there's a whole big United States out there. There's room for other cupcake shops. They shouldn't be bullying around or picking on little people like us. . . . I really honestly don't think they invented the cupcake."

All this fighting about cupcakes is ridiculous - surely cupcakes are a thing of joy not lawsuits! I think Wendy Jones of Sprinkled Pink Cupcake Couture speaks the truth, Sprinkles didn't invent the cupcake, and the word sprinkles has been round for years! They'll be going after Mr Sprinkles next!!!!

Why doesn't my job involve bribery with cupcakes???

Why? Why? WHY?

There’s always been an underground economy in Las Vegas. Since the town began, businesspeople with varying degrees of legitimacy have gifted and bribed one another with women, booze, money and fancy casino digs.

Now there’s a new and even more insidious bit of baksheesh going around.

Cupcakes.

If you need a favor in this town, you’d better show up with a dozen cupcakes.

“People tell me they’re the best bribery in the world,” says Pamela Jenkins, the 27-year-old founder of the Cupcakery, a Henderson boutique bakery that supplies fresh-baked bribes and frosted kickbacks to celebrities, judges, pharmaceutical reps, and you and me.

“We’ve got attorneys that send them to all the judges. And the pharmaceutical reps come in and tell us we’ve created monsters out of these medical receptionists and doctors. They’re like, ‘We’re not giving out your samples of Zoloft unless you bring us some cupcakes.’ We even get requests to draw purple pills on top of the cupcakes.”

You can read the rest of the article here - and also watch a mini video with the Cupcakery owner! I love the cupcake van - when will we start getting cupcake deliveries in the UK??

I also am intrigued about their erotic cupcakes

And then there’s perhaps the most Vegas aspect of the cupcake trade: Jenkins has a booming sideline in custom-made erotic cupcakes. The naughty nibbles fetch a premium price: $50 a dozen.

“People will send photographs and say, ‘Can you make it look just like this?’ ” Jenkins says of the custom-cake customers. “One of the nastiest ones we ever did was for (former boy band star) Joey Fatone, I think it was for his bachelor party, and they wanted female body parts, and it was just nasty.”

Jenkins breaks out a binder with samples of X-rated cupcakes; there’s a parental advisory on the cover. The cake artists don’t mind these special assignments, Jenkins says. “They have the best time. It’s pure comedy and enjoyment for them.”
All I know is their cupcakes look great whether they're made to look like lady gardens or just plain old cupcakes I'd eat them :)

Birthday cupcakes

This weekend Lola's Kitchen are celebrating the first year of sales at Selfridges and some cupcake shenanigans are going on...including mention of free cupcakes and the launch of a new pina colada cupcake!
I shall try to make it along but I'm out on Friday night and I may be feeling a bit delicate!

A New Yorkers Guide to Cupcakes!

Misnatalie has made it her mission to try every cupcake in New York and I've been following her progress on Chowhound and now you can read about her endeavors on her blog.

I've already got my cupcake tour of New York planned - along with maps and everything, but have now found a couple of new places to visit thanks to Natalie's blog!
I shall definitely be checking out some of her recommendations! For the full list and photos go to her blog :)
