No blood, no foul

Edward Anthony Mason Cullen's birthday is June 20th, 1901. He's a gemini. The fact that I know this may perhaps make you aware of how much I LOVE the Twilight series. And possibly makes me appear a little sad.To celebrate Edward's 109th birthday what else could I do but bake cupcakes!

I had seen quite a few Twilight cupcakes on line including Not Quite Nigella’s lovely red velvet apple shaped ones. I opted to make an apple cupcake base using a slightly adapted apple cupcake recipe I found on The Cookery Angel’s website. I made 12 in all and covered the ‘apple’ shaped ones in plain vanilla frosting and lashings of red sugar (which just refused to stick which is why my apple is a bit white in bits), and the normal ones in caramel vanilla frosting. Both were luscious to look at and to taste – just as I imagine Edward would be (sorry sometimes I just can’t help it).

Taking the photographs proved quite difficult. As you’ve probably already gathered I’m not a professional photographer. We tried several variations of the now-infamous ‘Twilight hand pose’ using a large sheet of black card as our background but it was very difficult to hold the card, hold the cupcake and make sure it was being held properly (which as you can see we failed at!). Also the person in the original picture didn't have fat wrists or tattoos! So, after a while we gave up and took the photos below - which I really rather like, even if the focusing is a bit pants! The second one has some glitter on it so it sparkles, just like Edward *sigh*

sparkles

apple cupcakes with caramel frosting - the cases are by Martha Stewart and have skull and cross bones on and say 'beware' and 'poison'. You can see pics here

I should really have baked some more tonight to take to the midnight showing of Eclipse tomorrow night although I think I'll be too excited during the movie to eat!!

just incase you have no idea what I'm talking about!

It's cupcake panda-monium

My lovely hubby pre-ordered me some gorgeous Chinese New Year cupcakes from Bea's of Bloomsbury and collected them today - aren't they just the cutest thing you've ever seen.

We didn't eat the fondant animals (how could I eat a panda!), but the cakes were amazing - light, moist and very flavoursome. What I love about Bea's is the cakes taste home made - which I mean as the highest compliment - they don't taste mass produced at all, but like a little bit of hand made love is in each and every cake!

If you look closely you can see my gorgeous little cupcake sugar shaker and my Twilight Conversation Hearts (the Edward edition - some of which shimmer just like him!!!). I think I'm going to use the Twilight hearts to decorate some cupcakes!

All in all, a wonderful valentines - I even got a cupcake valentines card :)

Which would you rather take a bite out of....

Edward or Jacob? Or should that be who would you rather take a bite out of you!

Yes, yes, Twilight books (and now movies) have been around for positively ages but I've been busy with cupcakes and what not, and have only recently read the books (on the last one now) and seen Twilight (loved it - would've enjoyed it more without Manny's waves of "is this it" emanating from next to me on the sofa!), so am a some-what "new" fan.

A new fan who is very much on Team Edward -Jacob's just too needy and smiley for my liking, waaay too clean cut looking. So If I had the choice I would definitely be sinking my teeth into an Edward cupcake, if only the fabulous vegan cupcakery Sweet Avenue shipped to the UK!

For those of you lucky enough to be in the US, you can choose from Edward v's Jacob cupcakes, a full New Moon set with 4 vampires, a werewolf and Bella (it would seem the cupcakes are very much aimed at the female of the species..and a token bloke!) or you can create your own box with anyone from the Cullen family, Bella, Jacob or even the Volturi!

I want some!!

Currently obsessed with...

the Twilight series of books. I've read the first two (staying up waaaaaay beyond my bedtime last night to finish New Moon) and I've just ordered the next two.

I thought I'd share my obsession with you with these gorgeous Twilight cupcakes from I heart cuppycakes. There are recipes and instructions on how to make them on the website.

Thanks to I heart cuppycakes for the pic.

Btw - I'm on Team Edward :)
