Cupcakes in a jar

Today's Daily Candy gave us 10 (rather flimsy) reasons why we should eat G Deserts lovely cupcakes in a jar. Just looking at them is enough to encourage me to give them a go!

Cupcakes currently come in six flavours (with more including champagne and fruit cake coming soon - perfect for Christmas I'd say) and two sizes - regular and tester sizes.

I love the look of the red velvet

Oooooh, and the vanilla

well all of them really - they just look really delicious, and very, very cute.

I have emailed G Deserts and hope to pick up a couple to try in the next week or so, so will update you on if they taste as good as they look! If you aren't lucky enough to live in South East London to pick some up, then you can order online, in multiples of 2 per flavour, and the postage charges are very reasonable.

If you fancy making your own cupcakes in a jar (perfect little gifts for Christmas) then check out this blog post from Cakies. Aren't they adorable?

Thanks to G Deserts and Cakies for use of their stunning photographs!

Happy Birthday to me

My birthday this year was a bit of a letdown in that I was v.ill, but was FABULOUS as I spent a lovely day cupcaking with Manny the day before and I got some amazingly fab gifts as well and was spoiled by my lovely husband and friends!

First up is my too gorgeous for words snail plate by Takae Mizutani and Sons that Manny bought for me after I'd mentioned it previously, and perhaps gone on about it a bit to him! Doesn't it make cakes just look even more gorgeous than ever!

Manny also bought me half of the new cupcake selection at Paperchase - including an apron, notebook (for my recipes), mirror, make up bag and a gorgeous little clip purse! I adore them all and felt very spoilt :) Since then I've also got myself the mouse mat and matching pen - I may return for the bunting but not sure if I have anywhere to hang it that the cats can't reach!

I also got some cupcake storage jars, a cupcake flannel and another cupcake apron from my lovely chum Renee (who also sent me tonnes of other goodies including a feast of Hershey's lip balms and Twilight goodies!)

Lots of lovely gifts and lots of yummy cakes (see the two posts below) makes Anne a very happy (and lucky) cupcake fan!

Perfect additions to your cupcake kitchen

A couple of cute little bits from Debenhams for valentines day.

I have been meaning to get this cute little cupcake shaped sifter for a while now, but I've not been to Oxford Street since pre-Christmas and the thought of venturing up there again fills me with horror, but I know I must go get this as it matches my teapot and cookie jar!

I've already got the cupcake oven gloves, thanks to Manny, and I'm not saying oven gloves are the most romantic present but they've got cupcakes on so who can resist!

Christmas cupcake gifts!

As you can see from the pics above I had a cupcake filled Christmas this year.

Myself and Manny had originally decided not to do gifts as we're going to see Manowar in Tilburg in a month (yay!) and have some home improvements (new windows..hurrah!) then we umm'd and ahhh'd and that changed to getting a few little gifts for each other as Manny wanted to make sure I had a lovely Christmas..and I did :)

So, my gorgeous gifts from Manny were - a cupcake cake stand, a cupcake message board, cake lettering and the slice of cake money box (the middle one in the pics). The other two cupcake money boxes were from the lovely Fahima (the one on the left) and Tasha (the one on the right). I also got Twilight on dvd and I'm going to sit and swoon/cry over that in the next day or so :) I am a very lucky cupcake lover!

The cupcakes you can see are fresh cream cupcakes from Waitrose. Originally I'd planned to go to Hummingbird on Christmas Eve to pick up some Christmas Cupcakes however my cold was stonking by then and I just couldn't face town so I picked these up while getting some last minute food bits. We had them on boxing day (too stuffed on Christmas!) and they were really nice with a cup of tea - they had a raspberry compote in the middle and the fresh cream made a nice change to heavy frosting, also the blobs of pink sugar on top were very yummy. I can say these were far superior to recent cupcake's purchased from an East End cupcakery which was inedible due to being rancid and very very old (more to come on this in a later post!)

So I hope you all have a lovely Christmas and got lots of fabulous presents. I'm going shopping tomorrow afternoon or Thursday to look for some cupcake goodies to spend some of my Christmas money on and I'm collecting some more gifts in the next day or so from friends I've not caught up with yet and I've been told cupcakes feature so look out for updates!

Festive fun with Johnny Cupcakes

I really LOVE this new fleece blanket from Johnny Cupcakes - perfect for snuggling under while having a hot chocolate and cupcake :)

Also perfect for this weather some Johnny Cupcakes gloves and a fab JC snow tube - basically a giant rubber ring alternative to a sledge - I bet Manny would love this!

Thanks to Johnny Cupcake for use of the photos!

More Christmas gift ideas

I popped into New Look today and finally set eyes on the magnetic cupcake notice board I've had my eye on since seeing it online a while back. I resisted buying it as I thought it might make a great gift for someone who reads this blog to get me (hint hint).

As well as they notice board, New Look have gone a little cupcake crazy and also have matching mugs, money boxes and journals/diary's in store (although not online).

In clothing they also have some rather cute cupcake pj's (in kids sizes only boo) and some socks to keep your feet toasty in the cold :)

I went to the store near Monument Station and they had the cupcake gifts in stock - not sure about the pj's and socks as only spotted them online.

Christopher Vine cupcake mug

I personally don't need any more cupcake mugs (or kitchen-ware I hear Manny adding!) but someone out there must want to give a home to this gorgeous Christopher Vine rose cupcake mug- perfect for drinking a cuppa out of while scoffing a cupcake (of course).

Also available in Tifffany Blue from here.

Some more Christmas gift ideas

Hannah Zakari's website has long been a favourite of mine - mainly due to my love of the gorgeous rabbit vase which I've been lusting after for a while. They also have some lovely cupcakes items including this cute little bag (perfect for wrapping a stocking filler perhaps), cupcake brooch and matching necklace, and finally for every Delia fan out there - a lovely sampler perfect for any Delia fans kitchen.

Cupcake Calendars

For 2010 I think I shall get the Hello Cupcake calendar from Amazon as it would seem the page a day one is exactly the same as last years. I think the Cupcakes one, which you can also get in Paperchase, is the same brand I got last year (yes I had two cupcakes calendars) so will check in Paperchase before deciding - decisions decisions.

More cupcake gift ideas

From the Gifted Penguin. I very nearly bought the recipe file before (I have the magnetic note pad of the same design) as it's rather gorgeous but I settled for a cheaper cupcake one instead :)

Never was a truer word printed on an apron

Fabulous Christmas gift for a cake lover from the Gifted Penguin (more to come from them in a bit)

Lots of cupcake stationery gift ideas from Hummingbird

Hummingbird Bakery make some of the best cupcakes in London (actually the world!) and their cakes are always gorgeous, as well as tasty. They are the kind of cakes that even people who don't like cupcakes (odd people) drool over. And if you, or someone you're buying a gift for is a fan there is a whole range of stationery available with their cakes on from Amazon (and from Waterstones (thanks Sarah)).

There are approx 10 items available in all but I've put a few of my faves on here for you - the full range is available here from Amazon or from the Waterstones link above. My favourite is the mini notebook and the notecards I think, but they're all just make your mouth water!

Also I noticed that a Hummingbird Cupcake Kit is available for pre-order (due out Feb 2010) which includes a cookbook and 100 cupcake cases - I'm assuming the cookbook is a edited down version of the original as it only includes 25 recipes.

And on a final Hummingbird note, don't forget their third store, in Wardour St, Soho, will be opening early December - perfect for a pre-Xmas shop treat :)
