If cupcakes were Scottish

They would most definitely be deep fried. These adorable deep fried bites of cupcake goodness were made by Jessie Oleson (Cakespy) and you can read how to make your own here and here.

Could you?

I read Vice Magazine to keep up with the hipsters shennanigans (NSFW has pics of the breast milking!!), however haven't seen the latest issue and their article "Hello Titty" where they compare breast milk cupcakes with cows milk ones, so thanks to Serious Eats for posting about it.

we forced our friend Patrick to do a taste test: Breast-milk cupcakes vs. some regular old cow-milk cupcakes. He was hesitant, but we were like, “Suck it up, wimp!”

After quietly chewing for a few minutes, he whispered, “I… I can’t tell any difference at all.” But we said, “No, you have to choose one.” So he held up the cupcake in his right hand and said, “This one is vaguely tastier.” And guess what, it was the boobcake! Breast milk officially wins!

Cute overload!

Not a cupcake but I just had to share the cuteness!

Thanks to Robyn Lee for the pic and Serious Eats for sharing!!

Cupcake Wars

From Serious Eats...

The blog TV Tango thinks it has found evidence of an upcoming cupcake-themed show from the Food Network:

"About 10 days ago, Food Network filed a trademark application to protect 'Cupcake Wars' for "a continuing program about food and cooking." I can't find any other details about the show and my requests to Food Network for more information went unanswered. Wouldn't it be awesome if Food Network and The Post teamed up to do a "Cupcake War" series with each episode focusing on a different region? Manhattan one week, Chicago the next, then LA, and Orange County and on and on."

Of course, just filing a trademark application doesn't guarantee that the Food Network will create or air the show, but it's some good intel on TV Tango's part.

I hope if they do make it they'll come to London and do an international special!!! In 15 days I shall be in NY beginning my very own tasting in the Cupcake Wars of Manhattan/Brooklyn ..wuhu

Icupcake...

Fresh baked for your phone!

From Serious Eats

Do you ever have a hankering for a nice, moist, vanilla cupcake with blue frosting and chocolate hearts on it? Or maybe a green tea flavored one with butter cream and sprinkles? Well, too bad you're stuck at work or tied down by one of those crazy cupcakeless diet fads.
But wait, yet another iPhone app comes to the rescue.
iCupcake is a new, 99¢ time-waster. It's pretty useless, sure, but you might be able to brighten someone's day by sending your sweet creation to them. If only it transported the real thing, though. [via Cupcakes Take the Cake]

I've been contemplating getting a new Ipod as mine is ollllld and although it doesn't hold as much songs I am keen on the Ipod Touch...decisions, decisions!

What happens when a cupcake hearts a squash?

From Serious Eats ...

What happens when a cupcake goes on a journey away from its world of candies and sweets—on a boat made of sugar cubes, naturally—and accidentally ends up an unknown land of naked fruits and vegetables? It learns some non-water soluble architectural tricks and falls in love with a squash. From animator and illustrator Kirsten Lepore comes Sweet Dreams, a 10-minute stop-motion animated film that captures a snippet of this adventurous cupcake's life. Don't miss the the great background music and the mostly food-based sets.

Click here to watch this wonderful animation. I feel I have to do my BBFC bit now and warn you it contains scenes of mild peril and cupcake nudity!

Seriously cute cupcakes

Today's pic of the day on Serious Eats was this fantastic Jack n Jill cupcake by Christine Hamilton, Abbietabbie on Facebook and I just had to share it! It looks too cute to eat doesn't it!

Manny would love the four and twenty blackbirds pie cupcake (cupcakes and pie being two of his favourite things!). These are all part of her nursery rhyme cupcake collection which can be viewed here!
