Diet cupcakes

Diet and cupcakes aren't really two words that go together, but I am still managing to lose weight while eating cupcakes so maybe this tea also works. I spotted it in Wholefoods and just had to buy it! I've not tried it yet though as fennel tea doesn't really appeal ..I'm more of a Twinings English Breakfast to be honest. Maybe I can persuade Manny to try it and gauge how awful it is by the face he pulls when he tries it!

I think I should give it a try as if I keep eating cupcakes the way I am I'm going to end up looking like the cupcake person on this box! But then I'd look so scrummy I'd only want to eat myself..it'd be a vicious circle!!

I picked up a pair of cupcake pyjama bottoms from Primark on Wednesday for £4!! They go well with my lovely cupcake pyjama shorts set :)

I wont be eating cupcakes in bed though...crumbs get everywhere!

If I worked in a cupcake shop...

I'd not only be the size of a house and have to be squeezed Winnie The Pooh style through the door, I'd also be HAPPY! Imagine being surrounded by cupcakes ALL DAY! Just looking at a cupcake makes me nearly as happy as eating one..not quite, but you know what I mean!

However when I've gone to the Primrose Bakery, on both occasions its seemed like a chore to serve me, and others that are there too. I understand that I'm not quite of the ilk of their other customers, like the reputed fans Kate Moss and Sadie Frost (well I do look like I eat AND digest the cupcakes I buy rather than chew them and sick them up!) but still, I'm spending money in your store...would it kill you to be pleasant, and perhaps pass the time of day with me?!

When I first walked into their little cafe/bakery I swear I was like a kid in a candy store - the place is totally cute and full of nice little nik naks...and CAKE...but still the people working there seem harassed and perturbed. I know they're busy but seriously I'd LOVE to have the opportunity to open my own bakery and work there! I'm ALWAYS really polite to people in shops as I know how irritating it is for people to be rude to shop assistants from my time as one, and more so when it's somewhere fab like this, but I get the same kind of response from the people here as I get in Tescos! When I asked her which flavours they had on Wednesday I was thankful looks can't kill! Usually people in cupcake places are more than happy to chat with you...

For example, when we went to Bea's she came out to personally ask us did we enjoy our cakes, in Berlin's Cupcake the lady who runs it was adorable and so friendly Manny left some of his heart with her (he was quite smitten bless him!), and Crumbs and Doilies couldn't be nicer if they tried, and the same goes for all the other cupcake places I've visited, and there's been a lot!!, ....so I'm not sure what the problem with PB is..it's certainly not their cakes, which are FABULOUS...maybe we're just not "Primrose Hill" material!

Anyways here's a pic of some cupcakes I bought there earlier this week from the gruff lady there. They were really nice, but alas what sticks in my memory is their (lack of) customer service.

Outsider Tart....a journey of epic proportions

I've been meaning to check out Outsider Tart for some time now and finally got round to it this weekend. After emailing them about their cakes, they kindly let me know that the first Saturday of the month is cupcake day at their stall at Richmond Farmers Market (isn't EVERY day cupcake day??!!!) so I decided to go along this weekend to check them out.

I called National Rail earlier in the week to check that trains were running as its bank holiday weekend and that usually means hell on the rails..but the person I spoke to in a call centre in deepest India assured me that there were to be no problems with this line..I hope there is a pox on his house now as the journey was screwed up and took over an hour each way...which made Manny sulk and in the end ruined our day out...but we did manage to get cupcakes which, for me anyways, was worth it!

Outsider Tart specialise in rather unusual flavours of cupcakes - I had a banana pecan and an orange and lemon with a meringue topping...both of which were divine! I loved the meringue topping although it was definitely one to eat at home as I got covered in the topping from nose to chin! Or maybe that was just me being a messy cow! Manny had an ambrosia one and an anise one..he said that one of them was an orange spicy one, which I think was the anise one, but I can't be sure!! The ambrosia one was a filled cupcake, which means it had something inside I think - Manny didn't really go into detail, he just said that they were nice!! The guy from OT explained the flavour combinations to us about 3 times but I totally forgot them by the time I got home. I shall be heading back the first weekend of June hopefully and can get a full run-down of their flavours. Definitely worth the journey to Richmond...just not on a bank holiday!!!!

Breakfast at the Cake Hole

I couldn't sleep today so got up just after 6 and headed off to Columbia Road on a mission to have cupcakes at Cake Hole as I couldn't get a seat/table there last time we went. I got there just before 9am and had a lovely pot of tea and a vanilla cupcake with rose petals on it for breakfast, all for the bargain price of £3.00! Their cupcakes were the cheapest I've found in London (I think) and it was absolutely gorgeous!!! It was really nice to have it served on a china plate with lovely cutlery too..very swish :) The frosting was absolutely spot on as well - I shall definately be heading up there again for breakfast :)

Definitely somewhere to visit for a cuppa and a cake - they had lots of different cakes in there apart from cupcakes..the ladies sitting next to me were very excited by both the plum cake and the lemon drizzle!

In honour of the lovely spring weather we've been having in London I decided to look for some rain-related cupcake goodies and was rather chuffed to find this rather spiffing Radley cupcake umbrella!!! Its not on the Radley website at the moment but you can buy it here - I'm going to pop into Radley in the next few days and see if they have it in store. It perfectly matches my lovely cupcake bag I got from there last week :)

If the price tag is a bit too much you can try this slightly cheaper one.

Oh and the Radley one comes in different colours, black and yellow, if for some reason you don't like pink!

Two fat ladies....

Well I'd manage to be one of them ...and if I went to cupcake bingo I think I'd more than likely become the size of two fat ladies rather than win! There's no way I'd keep the cakes long enough on the board to be able to shout "house" ..I'd be too busy stuffing them in my mouth! Sounds a great deal of fun though..if only I lived in the States I could go along!
