Now here's a meat cupcake I'd eat

Cuz it really is a cupcake, no meat added :)

They look yummy don't they!!! From the wonderful Hostess with the Mostess via Cupcakequeen

Cruelty Free Cupcakes!

If you only ever buy free-range eggs to cook with, then think about the ready-made products that you buy that contain egg as an ingredient.

Your favourite supermarket quiche, a ready made egg sandwich, or perhaps a delicious victoria sponge (or cupcake!!) could all contain eggs laid by hens kept in cruel battery cages. Don't compromise on your egg ethics, download the RSPCA must have guide to products containing only free-range egg.

Download the pdf version of the guide, complete with the yummy cover, above, here.

If you'd like a version of the guide for your mobile, which is very convenient for when you're out shopping in the supermarket - text EGG to 60022. You will need an Internet enabled phone to do this.

Cupcake dreams come true..

for your pets on this v.cute cupcake bed, which I came across in my latest Freemans catalogue. It can be bought for £60 here. I'm not sure if I should buy it for Angel and Demon - I've bought them so many beds and still they sleep on my old handbag or on top of the shelving unit!

Politics and cupcakes

I love how cupcakes are getting mentioned more and more in the UK media! In The London Paper today there is an article about travelling to Washington, telling us the cities not just about politics but it has a trendy side too - including cupcakes from the fantastic looking Georgetown Cupcake.

According to the article Russell Crowe and John Kerry are among those queuing up to get a cupcake and supposedly their cupcakes beat Magnolia bakery hands down (from what I've heard not too difficult but I shall let you know in March!).

If you're in Washington go check out DC's first and only cupcakery and send me a pic please :)

Nonparelis???

Today I was browsing Eleni's website as part of my quest to find all the great cupcake places in New York for my holiday!!). Whenever I looked at the descriptions of their scrumptious looking cupcakes one word kept cropping up...nonparelis. Having NO idea what this was I immediately Wikipedia'd it and lo and behold its a fancy name for sprinkles...well fatter rounder sprinkles! (does that make me the nonparelis of the human world???!). Are Eleni's reverting to the use of this old fashioned word after hearing about Sprinkles fondness for lawsuits..just incase?

Anyways nonparelis or sprinkles, who cares - how much do these pics make you want to lick the frosting off Leroy? *

By the way incase anyone is interested there are currently 177 days till I get to New York and the tour currently stands at 18 cupcake stores!!! My current plan is not to eat anything but soup from New Years till March in anticipation of cupcake overload!

*Leroy is the fancy pink cupcake above not some random man I wish to lick frosting from!

Scrumptious cakes,happy people

A reader of the blog suggested I check out Fair Cake, and Anna I want to thank you!

Fair Cake make some gorgeous looking cupcakes AND they use Fair Trade ingredients and only free range eggs, which only makes them yummier sounding!

I love their motto - scrumptious cakes, happy people as it sums up to me what cupcakes are all about! I'm told their cupcakes taste as good as the ones from New York, and from the look of their cakes, especially the rather yummy looking frosting I am inclined to agree!!!

Check out their blog for some lovely pictures of their cupcakes, with links to their Flickr site also!
